I will be in Philadelphia, PA this Saturday and Sunday, July 23 and 24. We will be in screening the film, Five Friends, having discussions and leading workshops with men. We are doing this in people’s homes which is becoming an exciting venue for us. Many individuals have become so very excited about the film that they invite their own men’s group to get together or bring their friends together (men and women) to see the film, discuss their feelings about the film and participate in a workshop to explore their Quality Male Relationships and how to improve them. Pretty wonderful and we are so please to be a part of this dialogue.
I am particularly excited that my older daughter, Briana will be joining me for the weekend and helping to facilitate and coach the workshop. What has been remarkable about the film is that men and woman are enjoying it and want to participate in screenings and workshops. “Five Friends” raises many issues that cross sex-role stereotypes. I remember there was one wonderful teacher in Missouri that told me that, “At first I thought I was watching a movie about men, but fairly soon I realised I was watching a movie about relationships”.
A profound statement, as we are not talking about what are male or female behavior and emotions…we are talking about what is “Human Behavior” as Michael Kimmel, sociologist has said in the film.
Thanks,
Hank
