It is amazing that this film has only been out to the public in private screenings and sales on line for about 90 days and the reviews and bookings have been amazing and powerful. We are booking through November 2011 at this time and the most popular bookings are at people’s homes, men’s groups and church affiliated men’s groups.
When we started this project only about 18 months ago, it was supposed to be something for our families – especially our children. To teach them about friendship from their father’s perspective.
The response to the film has been so powerful that it is creating dialogues from California to Connecticut about what it means for men to be in a close, healthy relationship with men. The film is giving us a voice from which to learn and grow and share what the possiblities are for a new masculinity – a gentle, kind, loving man who is well connected and supported by other similar men.
Just 90 days and this movie movement has really begun. Makes me think.
Hank
Hank, have you any familiarity with author’s Gordon Dalbey and John Eldredge? If not, I think you will find them kindred spirits. Gordon’s “Healing The Masculine Soul” and John’s “Wild At Heart” also share the themes of your movie. I highly recommend both authors and their work.
Hank, I just want to thank you so much for putting together this documentary. Society has led us to believe that the “masculine soul” does not relate to all things human. In my opinion, I think many things would be different in this world- if we recognized that in many ways men are just as emotional as women.
